Chair of Clinical Pharmacy

The University’s Faculty of Pharmacy graduates approximately 300 pharmacists each year who enter the workforce via the faculty’s flagship undergraduate Bachelor of Pharmacy degree and the graduate entry Master of Pharmacy program. The faculty employs 40 continuing academic staff of whom 12 are full professors. Currently, there are approximately over 100 higher degree research students (mostly PhD candidates) in the faculty, with around 10 graduating each year.
The appointment, Chair of Clinical Pharmacy, carries academic responsibilities in the learning and teaching, clinical research and high level service portfolios at the University of Sydney. In addition, this position contributes to the hospital community in terms of quality patient care, inter-professional teaching, high level leadership in clinical research and health care service and health policy more generally.
You will be appointed at the professorial level in the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Sydney and will be based at both the University and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH).
In this position, you will:
  • foster excellence and provide high level strategic leadership in research, teaching and health policy development in the faculty and the hospital
  • contribute to an expanding program of professional and industry research collaboration, with a focus on the faculty’s core research areas and existing research groups, and build partnerships with relevant health industry, academic and health-related contacts and organisations
  • provide leadership in scholarship through innovative and distinguished clinical research
  • promote inter-professional collaboration between pharmacy and other healthcare students, and between various health practitioners in the clinical setting as well as through the teaching of pharmacy students. 
  • preference may be given to applicants who have demonstrated performance at a professorial level in Clinical Pharmacy specifically in a theraputic/clinical speciality relevant to hospital practice.
Term & Remuneration
The position is full-time continuing, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees.
